MESSAGE FROM THE CHAIRMAN

Welcome to the Limpopo Hunters Liaison Forum website.

As most of the information on this site is for the benefit of Limpopo Hunters Liaison Forum members only, it is password protected. If you need any information or would like to become a member, kindly contact us (details on 'contacts' page) and we will gladly assist.

It is hoped, and believed, that the launch of this website will be a major step forward, in improving the operations of our Forum. Information is of vital importance to us, in our quest to achieve that objective. In this modern, computer driven age, a website for the Forum was an obvious choice and avenue to pursue.

Beste Kollegas en Vriende,

Die LHLF is sekerlik die magtigste werktuig wat die industrie het om met die Limpopo Regering te skakel m.b.t. wildlewe kwessies.  Die feit is reeds deur  menige erken en ervaar deur die afgelope jare.  Die voordele vir alle partye is voor-die-hand liggend.

2012 sal weer ‘n jaar vol uitdagings en verrassings wees.  Terwyl ons almal besef dat die wêreld ekonomie nie gaan verbeter nie, maak dit ons meer inoverend om ons bedryf beter te posisioneer.  Die verhouding tussen die privaat industrie en ons lokale Regering verbeter elke dag, en ek glo die 2012 Luiperd Cites Permit kwessie is ‘n ware bewys hiervan.  Ons erken dat alles nie altyd pluis is nie, en sal sekerlik nooit perfek wees nie.  Dit is my doel om hierdie verhouding te handhaaf, en te probeer verbeter in 2012. 

LHLF is nou ‘n dinamiese krag in die Limpopo Provinsie.  Hierdie dinamiese krag word reeds erken deur die owerheid, en die publiek. Dit is slegs te wyte aan almal se harde werk en toewyding in die verlede.  Ek dring aan dat ons almal meer pro-aktief sal raak in 2012, en dat ons almal ons vriende en kollegas sal aanvuur om aktief by die LHLF betrokke te raak.  Ek wil graag almal inklusief kry, op die pad na ons toekoms.

LHLF het reeds baie nuwe interressante projekte aangepak wat die aanstel van ons sekretaresse/bestuurder insluit. Sy is Estie van der Merwe, met ‘n vurige ywer om LHLF te maak beweeg.  Ek vra dat julle haar ten volle sal ondersteun om die uitdagings van 2012 aan te pak.

Estie sal meer besonderhede verskaf in haar persoonlike repliek aan al die lede en die Regering.  Ek rig dan ook ‘n dringende uitnodiging aan almal om gereeld met my of Estie te praat.  Deel asseblief julle advies, gedagtes, voorstelle en positiewe kritiek met ons.  Ek ondersteun ‘n “oop deur beleid”.  Ons is gemotiveerd om alle kwessies aan te pak, en wil seker maak dit gebeur op ‘n “geen vooroordeel” en “geen emosionele” wyse. Ons gaan poog om met feite te werk, asook die protokol en merriete van elke saak.

Ek wil graag dat die Kommittee twee keer, maar minstens een keer, ontmoet voor die finale AJV in Oktober.    Op julle aandrang kan ons ook probeer reel vir ‘n algemene vergadering, ter geleë tyd en plek, voor die AJV.

Ek sal in die buiteland wees met bemarking vanaf 20 Januarie tot 29 Maart 2012.  Dit is met nederigheid wat ek hierdie groot verantwoordelikheid aanvaar om as Voorsitter op te tree.  Ek hoop ek sal die “groot skoene” van my voorgangers kan volstaan, want hulle het hul taak puik gedaan.  Ek is dankbaar vir hulle harde werk. My dank ook aan julle wat my vertrou om hierdie groot taak te doen.  My dank ook aan PJSA wat hulle besonderse steun aan LHLF verleen en aanbied.  Ek sal poog om my beste vir hierdie industrie te lewer.

My beste wense aan almal, vir ‘n suksesvolle 2012, en bid dat julle lewens en besigheid erg verreik sal word. Kom ons staan saam met ons persepsies, ons dade en ons woorde.  Kom ons hou die eer van hierdie industrie hoog.  Ek nooi julle elkeen uit, om saam met my ons regmatige  plek as die nommer een Provinsie in die RSA te herwin.

Dear Colleagues and Friends,

LHLF is the most powerful tool the industry has to liaise with the Limpopo Government regarding all wildlife issues. This has been acknowledged and experienced by all for many years.  Such a communication forum is most important and the mutual benefits are abundant.

2012 will be another exciting yet challenging year.  While we all know that the economy of the world is really not getting better, it is making all of us more innovative as to how to position our businesses better.  The relationship and interaction between industry and Local Government is improving every day and I do believe that the 2012 Leopard Cites permit issue is a sterling example of this.  We also understand that all is not perfect, and may never be.  I do however have every intention to maintain this good relationship and better it if possible.

LHLF has become a dynamic force in Limpopo.  A Dynamic force that is recognized by the Powers and the public at large.  Your hard work and many efforts have brought this about.  I personally urge everyone to get more involved and more pro-active in 2012.  I also urge you to talk to friends and colleagues who are not active, to fire them up and be part of this exciting forum. We want all stake holders to be a part of the way forward.

LHLF has embarked on many new projects including appointing a secretary/manager in Estie van der Merwe. She has already proven her zeal, abilities, and unselfish willingness to move and shake the LHLF.  I ask that you support her and work with her in facing the challenges of 2012.

Estie will elaborate in more detail on these new projects and goals in her personal address to the members and Government.  I invite you to talk to either of us regularly and share your thoughts, advice, proposals and ideas. I do believe in the “open door” policy.  We endeavor to deal with each issue in a non-biased and unemotional way.  We strive to stick to the facts, the protocol and the merits of each issue.

It is also my mission to have the committee meet at least once, but preferably twice this year before the final AGM in October.  At your request, we can also try and arrange a general meeting at a convenient time before the AGM.

I will be away with marketing abroad from January 20 till March 2012.  It is with humbleness that I take this honorable task as chairman, and hope that I can fill the great shoes of all my predecessors who have done a sterling job.  I thank them for this. I thank all of you for trusting me with this great responsibility.  I thank PHASA for their eagerness to be extremely supportive of LHLF. I pledge no less than my level best.

I wish everyone a very successful 2012 and pray that your lives and business’ will be greatly enriched.  Let us unite in our perceptions, our deeds and our words.  Let us hold the esteem of this industry at the highest level. Let us re-claim our “number one” position as the leading Province in South Africa.
