The reason behind LHLF

Ethical Hunting, This site was created through a cooperative effort between individuals that care deeply about our hunting heritage and our wildlife.

"Our purpose is to support wildlife management and sustainable growth. Our vision is to serve as an education tool for wildlife conservation and ethical hunting practices."

Since hunting ethics is a personal code of conduct self-imposed by hunters, there is diversity in these ethics when expressed. Hunting is a personal experience that is filled with personal choices. Ethical hunters obey both an unwritten or moral code of practice, as well as the formal written laws. The ethical hunter knows the importance of obeying laws to preserve wildlife and the environment, while also ensuring people’s safety.

It is up to all hunters to maintain and improve the hunter’s image among the general public. Good hunting behaviour will reflect on people’s opinions of all hunters. The ethical hunter will respect the views and opinions of non-hunters, he/she will be considerate and courteous always demonstrating to the public that hunters behave responsibly and practice ethical and sustainable hunting practices.

“In a civilized and cultured country wild animals only continue to exist at all when preserved by sportsmen. The excellent people who protest against all hunting, and consider sportsmen as enemies of wildlife, are ignorant of the fact that in reality the genuine sportsman is by all odds the most important factor in keeping the larger and more valuable wild creatures from total extermination.” --Theodore Roosevelt
